Be the driver…NOT the passenger!

Do you allow a negative comment or a harsh word get under your skin, especially when it comes from someone you care about, or someone you thought highly of? If you answered yes, then you’re not alone.

In general, as homo sapiens, we do get hurt when someone criticizes us, questions our intelligence, or is doubtful of our capabilities. It’s not always easy to ignore these types of comments. These harsh words can cut deeper than a sharp knife and the scar left is often worse than a scar on your skin. The question is…are you the driver or the passenger of your emotions? Do you want to allow someone else to control how your day goes?

When someone hurts your feelings, and you can sense negativity starting to take over, stop, take a few deep breaths, close your eyes, and feel the negative energy moving out right through your fingertips and toes. Say to yourself “my emotions are not me…but mine” and know that at any time you can choose not to let negative thoughts take over.

Be the driver…not the passenger; take charge of your emotions.
